Description:
Donations help fund a toll-free helpline with counseling by licensed social workers, resources and referrals; educational conferences; national initiatives such as National Memory Screening Day, professional education and training ; and AFA Teens to educate and engage the younger generation. In addition, AFA provides family respite care grants and grants for member organizations that provide direct care and support; and, through strategic partnerships, AFA funds research for medical treatment and a cure.
AFA believes that by raising awareness of the disease and educating healthcare professionals and the public at large, they will:
* Help remove the fear and denial surrounding Alzheimer’s disease and related illnesses
* Lead to early detection and proper treatment
* Prompt greater utilization of community resources
* Ultimately improve quality of life
