The County Clerk's Office is the official record keeper for many basic County functions, including acting as the Secretary of the County Board of Supervisors. This function includes preparation and maintenance of agendas, minutes, and proceedings, publishing the appropriate legal notices, as well as staff assistance to the Supervisors. The County Clerk's Office is also responsible for updating the Meetings Calendar and County Board Resolutions and Ordinances portions of the website.
Another major responsibility of the Office of the County Clerk is election administration. This involves programming, preparation and distribution of ballots, accumulating the results of each election and canvassing the election returns for each federal, state and county office. The County Clerk is the filing officer for the Board of Supervisors and Constitutional Officers; providing declaration of candidacy, campaign finance and ballot access forms such as nomination papers and campaign finance registration; as well as administering oaths of office.
Marriage Licenses and Domestic Partnerships are issued through the County Clerk's Office. On average 600 to 700 licenses are issued every year.
The County Clerk's Office is also a Passport Acceptance Agent for the National Passport Agency.
