2-1-1 is your connection to local support you need. 2-1-1 is a simple, free way to connect all people in need with vital human services for everyday life or in times of crisis. By dialing 2-1-1 or visiting the website from anywhere in the state of Wisconsin, people are linked to information about local resources, from both government and nonprofit organizations. From the single parent seeking food for their children to the senior citizen looking for in-home care, 2-1-1 brings people and community resources together.
2-1-1 is a statewide resource, available to everyone. It can serve as a resource not only for the people of the state, but also for the health care professionals, probation officers, social workers, family members, neighbors and others that are trying to assist people in reaching the support and services that they need.
There are seven 2-1-1 contact centers in Wisconsin, divided regionally. A few counties in Wisconsin are covered centers in Minnesota. Each center is accessible by calling 2-1-1 or toll free (877) 847-2211. The services are available 24 hours, every day, and all year.
The 2-1-1 program provides:
•Information – regarding a large variety of available services
•Referrals – to specific agencies or organizations in the community
•Advocacy – some callers are struggling with barriers that include language, comprehension issues, anxiety, etc. 2-1-1 specialists are able to advocate on their behalf in order help them access the help they need
•Crisis intervention – “crisis” has a broad definition. Examples include a mom who has no formula or diapers for a baby, no food for the family, mental health emergencies, physical health emergencies
•Follow-up – 2-1-1 specialists schedule follow-up calls and/or surveys to ensure people are getting the help they need
•Online, up to date, database of community resources easily accessed by those in need
•Data collection, analysis, and reporting

•Community outreach
•Emergency preparedness and disaster response
