Sacred Heart was established in 1893 by the School Sisters of St. Francis as a sanitarium where people came to rest and recover. In 1965, Sacred Heart Sanitarium became Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Hospital and quickly established a reputation as a leading provider of physical rehabilitation.
Today, Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Institute is part of Columbia St. Mary's, and remains a leading provider of rehabilitation. Programs include: Coma recovery, Brain injury day treatment, Inpatient medically intensive rehabilitation, and Outpatient neurology rehabilitation.
Sacred Heart is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
