Description:

Transit Plus provides transportation services to people who are unable to use Milwaukee County buses and are found eligible for paratransit services. Paratransit van service is a wheelchair accessible door-to-door, shared ride service. This means other riders will be picked up and dropped off along the way to your destination. Van drivers assist riders through the first set of doors at both the pick-up and destination points. Drivers are unable to provide assistance beyond the first exterior door. To become eligible for Transit Plus, applicants must complete an application and have their licensed medical provider (physician, registered nurse, occupational therapist or physical therapist) complete the Medical Documentation Form. Applications can be found on the Transit Plus website or one can be mailed to you by calling the Transit Plus office at 414-343-1700. Completed applications should be submitted to the Transit Plus office via mail or dropped off in person to 1942 N 17th Street, Milwaukee, WI 53205. Once the fully completed application is received, Transit Plus staff will contact the applicant to schedule an in-person eligibility assessment. In-person eligibility assessments take place at the Transit Plus office. If an applicant needs transportation to their assessment, Transit Plus will provide a ride at no cost. An applicant to is unable to independently participate in this assessment and who may need personal or behavioral care, should be accompanied by someone who can help them. Eligible participants are issued an ID card and provided with a "Rider's Guide" handbook describing the program in detail, including essential contact information. The Rider's Guide is available in Spanish and audio clips on the Transit Plus website. Braille and large print versions are available upon request.
HOURS OF SERVICE: RIDES PROVIDED--4:00 a.m. to 2 a.m., 7 days per week, 365 days a year.
RESERVATIONS ACCEPTED--8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 365 days a year.
RESERVATIONS can be made 1-7 days in advance of a trip. Authorized companion riders and PCA's must be scheduled at the time the ride reservation is made.
FARES: The fare for each one-way trip is $4.00 in cash or Transit Plus tickets. Drivers cannot make change, so be sure to have exact fare ready each time you board. Transportation cannot be provided without payment of the fare upon boarding. Transit Plus fare tickets are available in books of 10 at a cost of $40.00 per book, or for $350.00 (effective 1/1/24) at the Agency Fare rate. Contact the Transit Plus office at 414-343-1700, to have a ticket order form mailed to you, or to place a credit card order. Tickets can also be ordered online or in person at the Transit Plus office.
